Wedding and prom season is finally upon us. For those on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed the avant-garde gowns being worn by high schoolers on their big night. Prom has become a competition in which you only win by pushing the envelope to inappropriate levels. It’s all about cut outs and flesh tone dresses and gowns – which in my opinion is too much for 17 and 18 year old teenagers. I teamed up with Rent Frock Repeat to give my 17 year old self prom look inspiration that won’t result in cringe worthy looks. I was excited for this partnership as I have a little sister attending prom this year, and I hope to inspire her to opt for a more elegant and demure look.
I’ve blogged about RFR before here. I rented a Badgley Mischka gown for last year’s Harry Jerome Awards. It’s such a great way to feel and look expensive without burdening your wallet for a gown you’ll only wear once. They have an incredible collection of designer dresses and gowns to suit all shapes, sizes, and taste. You can visit their Toronto or Ottawa showrooms, and if that’s not an option, they’ll schedule a Skype consultation to help you find the perfect dress. Services like Rent Frock Repeat are great for those who are looking to splurge on a designer item for one night without having to pay designer prices. It’s perfect for prom and weddings (more on that tomorrow).
As part of my collaboration, I’ll be sharing 3 prom and wedding looks. Below is my first pic for a girly prom look – a gorgeous Narces ivory floral appliqué high-low dress. This dress is very girly, while maintaining a little bit of edge with the high-low cut. I paired it with very colourful shoes, a black clutch and simple gold jewelry. If I had to do prom allover again, I’d definitely consider this number – it has all the makings of a show stopping look. Make your designer prom dreams come true by renting from Rent Frock Repeat. Use the code FANCY with your rentals to get 20% off. Happy shopping!
