Yesterday I shared with you my pic for a very feminine prom dress that can also be worn at other slightly less formal events. Today I’m sharing with you my pick for the ultimate ball gown; this is for the girl who’s always dreamt of being the princess of the ball.A big thanks to my stylists at Rent Frock Repeat who suggested I try this gorgeous gem on – left to me, I probably wouldn’t have noticed it on the hanger.
For most people, ball gowns bring back horrible memories of marshmallow shaped dresses their moms used to dress them up in when they were young (my mom’s guilty of that too). It’s a design something I usually shy away from because of the big pouffy silhouette reminiscent of cake toppers and other desserts. Imagine my surprise when I was able to find this beautiful Monique Lhuillier lilac gown. It had all the makings of a classic dress, one that I could dance the night away in at prom and wear again a few years down the line. The crisscross design in the back adds the right amount of edge to it, while the front is kept very elegant and effortless. With the crystal belt embellishing the dress, I kept my jewellery very minimal (as usual) with a ball bearing silver bracelet (which you can also rent from RFR).
This gown was a dream. I spent many moments twirling around in it. I might just rent it to wear to the ballet and recreate this famous SATC moment. Don’t forget that you too can rent this gown and the bracelet from Rent Frock Repeat and get 20% off your order with the code FANCY. To all my high school readers, I hope prom is everything you wish for and more! xox
