Clapping for myself because it’s week 1 of the new year and I’m keeping up with my posting schedule. Unfortunately, today is my last full day in Lagos, we leave tomorrow evening. I’ve had such an amazing time and can’t wait to show you guys my adventures via other blog posts. This particular blog post is about Nok by Alara, a fantastic restaurant I found on Instagram. Lagos is full of so many gems. I’m happy to be here on holiday, which excuses my need to constantly go out to eat and try new things (including venturing into Balogun market).
Nok by Alara is more of an African-fusion type of restaurant. I liked that they had dishes from many African countries including Nigerian (of course), Senegalese and Ghanian. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, inside and out. We opted to eat outside because it was such a beautiful day and their outdoor space was too pretty to resist.
We started with drinks. I had the Dre Beats and the Mr had a Hibiscus Lemonade. Aside from the drinks taking forever to get to us, they were delicious. I’m usually turned off by restaurant delays, but I’ve had to get used to it here. Almost every restaurant we’ve been to takes over 20 minutes to bring drinks to the table… le sigh.
We also ordered fresh fruit to start, which were okay. I would definitely recommend ordering another starter, we just weren’t feeling too adventurous as we had already had a big breakfast. For the main, I had the whole tilapia with akassa and he had the suya crusted steak and scrambled eggs. The suya meat was cooked to perfection, very tender and flavourful. My tilapia was also very delicious, and I enjoyed dipping the eko is the sauce. Overall, I was impressed and satisfied with the quality of our meals.
With full bellies, we ventured into their curated backyard space for a little photoshoot, it was too pretty to resist. Nok by Alara is definitely a must for bloggers/Instagram addicts when visiting Lagos. As you can see by my face, I was too full to venture into fierceness lol.
In addition to the restaurant, they have a cute shop (which is the first thing you see when you walk into the complex) where you can buy EVERYTHING… granted you have the funds. It’s a mixture of African crafted items and luxury pieces from brands such as YSL and Louboutin.
The Nok by Alara shop spans 4 floors. Their merchandise is artfully displayed. The furniture was so pretty and inviting, I had to fight the urge to sit down and snap a photo. Overall I recommend this restaurant to all my foodies visiting Lagos. Make your reservations in advance as they do fill up quickly.
