HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope you all had an amazing New Year’s Eve with loved ones. I spent mine at church with my fiancé. There’s something about crossing over to a new year with God that just brings me peace. I had a very relaxing first two days of the year and now it’s back to business.
I’d go on and on about my goals, but I prefer to let my actions speak for themselves. The one goal I will share however is my intention to be more consistent on the blog and Instagram. The last two years were so busy and weird that I didn’t put much into the blog.
I’m definitely going to change that this year, especially with my new gig as the 2018 Face of Congo Fashion Week. This year I want to share more of my Congolese culture. From food to fashion and music, you’ll definitely feel the Congolese vibe on The Fancy Nancy. I’ll also be sharing bits and bobs about Nigerian culture since my soon to be husband is Nigerian and I’ve been falling in love with his culture and can’t wait to share.
Speaking of marriage, I believe I’m planning 3 weddings (traditional, white wedding, and a reception in Nigeria). Our traditional wedding is taking place in July and I’m so excited to bring you guys along with me for some aspects of the planning. Since I live in the UK, my sister Leila and my mom will be doing most of the planning. For a type-A psycho-control-freak like myself, its hard to imagine, but I trust them to pull it off.
My fiancé and I are also planning our white wedding, which will take place somewhere in France in the summer of 2019. I’m SO EXCITED about this wedding, mostly because it will be a weekend wedding with all our closest friends and family.
Not to worry, you’re not only going to get wedding talk on the blog. This year, I’ll be sharing a lot more career advice. Everyone wants to be an entrepreneur because it looks so glamorous on Instagram. My career blog posts will focus on showing you the work that goes into any career path, not just entrepreneurship. I want to help millennial women everywhere make informed career decisions to live their happiest lives and be fulfilled.
2018 is also the year I’ll finally venture into video. It’s my goal to start producing 1-2 videos a month and grow a community in the YouTube space. I can’t promise that I’ll vlog, mostly because I don’t feel comfortable with a camera recording my daily activities, but I’ll try and do “A day/week in my life” videos for you guys.
I’m excited about all the projects and travels I have coming up in 2018 and can’t wait to share them with you guys. Starting next week, I’ll have a consistent 3 posts/week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The first post of the month will always be a letter from the editor. It will give you insight into the planned posts for the month.
Thank you again for your support over the years. Let’s make 2018 our best year yet!
